Voice Lessons
Teaching Studio
I’ve been teaching private voice lessons for over twenty-five years, working with singers at all stages. My studio is currently based on the second floor of Dole Mansion in Crystal Lake, IL.
In my teaching, I focus on strong vocal technique, confidence, presentation, and healthy, sustainable habits. I always shift my approach to match the goals of the student in front of me. I teach all who wish to learn—some students come simply because they love to sing, some are working toward specific auditions or roles, and others are looking to learn and be challenged.
Alongside my private teaching, I have ten years of experience as a music director and co-director in middle school musical productions. I also lead theatre audition workshops for students of all ages, creating spaces where performers can take risks, build skills, and grow without pressure.
Beyond the studio, I am a professional voice actor. Trained primarily in commercial voice-over, I enjoy exploring a variety of genres and love connecting words to audiences—whether through a song, a performance, or a script.
Studio Rules
1. Please ensure you arrive on time for your lessons. If you arrive late, the lesson will still end at the scheduled time, as I will be unable to extend it. I will strive to be accommodating and flexible if my schedule allows, but your punctuality is greatly appreciated.
2. Lessons are available in 30, 45, and 60-minute slots, depending on your ability, skill level, and the material you wish to cover. If you have a higher skill level or are interested in exploring more than just basic music theory, you might consider scheduling a longer lesson.
3. Each student may reserve only one time slot per week. If two slots are needed, the student will be charged for both.
4. Payment is due at the start of each lesson, but pre-payment is also accepted. A discount is available for those who pre-pay for the entire month at the beginning of the month.
5. Cancellations require a minimum of 24 hours’ notice prior to the scheduled lesson time. Exceptions will be made for emergencies and illness.
6. Make-up lessons are considered on a case-by-case basis and are not guaranteed, regardless of the reason. To be eligible for a make-up lesson, notice must be given before the start of the scheduled lesson. Please be aware that no refunds will be provided.
7. Please come prepared with your music, a pencil, paper for assignments, and a folder or binder. For online lessons, ensure that any necessary recordings are readily accessible to be played on a second device.
8. While practicing is not required, it is highly encouraged and recommended to make the most of your lesson time and enhance your learning experience.
9. A positive attitude and an open mind are greatly appreciated. I am dedicated to your growth and development as a singer and musician, and my goal is to support you every step of the way.
10. Please be patient—some concepts may seem straightforward but can be challenging to master. I’m always happy to discuss your progress and my teaching methods. My goal is to work with you to ensure that learning music remains a positive and rewarding experience.
